New Maruti Jimny will come with old engine in India

Maruti Jimny: Maruti Suzuki’s Jimny 5-Door off-road SUV is set for its Indian debut at the 2023 Auto Expo. Testing of the model has been spotted on Indian roads in recent times, and fresh details about the vehicle’s engine and off-road gear have been revealed. Reports indicate that the Jimny Lifestyle SUV for India measures 3850mm in length, 1645mm in width, 1730mm in height, and 2550mm in wheelbase.

Maruti Jimny 5-Door Engine

Previous reports suggested that the Jimny 5-Door will be offered with mild hybrid technology and a 1.5L Dualjet K15C petrol engine. However, a new report claims that the SUV will be offered with the older K15B engine. The same engine is also found in the current 3-Door Jimny in the global market. Its 1462cc engine generates 102bhp power and 130Nm peak torque. Mild-hybrid technology is expected to be available in this engine.

Maruti Jimny 5-Door gearbox

Transmission options on the 3-door Jimny include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter automatic. Both these gearbox options are offered with Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro AWD system. However, the Indian model is expected to get a new 6-speed torque converter unit, instead of the 4-speed automatic gearbox. This gearbox has recently been introduced in the Brezza, Grand Vitara, Ertiga, and the XL6.

All Grip Pro 4-Wheel-Drive Technology in Maruti Jimny 5-Door

The Maruti Jimny 5-Door will come with Suzuki’s All Grip Pro 4-wheel-drive technology. The AllGrup Pro 4WD setup gets low-ratio gears, which increases the engine’s torque and limits the speed. The driver can switch between two-wheel-drive high (2H) and four-wheel-drive high (4H) on off-road occasions. And for off-road conditions, the SUV will get four-wheel-drive Low (4L).
