Making her acting debut in the Malayalam movie Summer in Bethlehem, Manjula played the role of Aparna and from then went on to produce films and work as a director.

Her Show won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu, and she went on to direct Manasuku Nachindi starring Sundeep Kishan, Amyra Dastur, and Tridha Choudhury. Tragically, in 2022, Manjula faced the heartbreak of losing her beloved father, Krishna Garu, to a heart attack as well as her brother Ramesh Babu and mother Indira Devi who both died from age-related diseases.
